To see how the 2016 Honda Odyssey stacks up against the Chrysler Pacifica minivan, continue reading below!

Cargo Capacity

Having the ability to transport seven passengers in your new minivan is great, but you also need space for your passengers' bags, luggage, and other belongings. Thankfully the 2016 Honda Odyssey has cargo space galore -- or a standard cargo volume of 38.4 cubic feet, to be exact! Compare that to the Pacifica and you will find the Chrysler seriously lacking in cargo space, as it offers a mere 32.3 cubic feet. When you fold down the rear seats of both minivans, you will find that the Odyssey's maximum cargo volume of 148.5 cubic feet overshadows that of the Pacifica, which provides just 140.5 cubic feet. The 2016 Honda Odyssey offers lots of advantages over Chrysler's Pacifica, but cargo capacity is clearly one of the aspects where this comparison is not even close!

Passenger Space

If you want to transport your family, friends, and loved ones in comfort, then you should consider the 2016 Honda Odyssey over Chrysler's new Pacifica. Featuring a passenger volume of 172.6 cubic feet, compared to the Pacifica's 165 cubic feet, the Odyssey's roomier cabin will be appreciated by all seven passengers. In addition to providing more second-row and third-row legroom, the new Odyssey also offers more front and second-row shoulder room, as well as more hip room for middle-row occupants.

City Fuel Economy

From transporting the kids around town to attending their sporting events and running errands, minivans get a lot of used in and around town. Thanks to its 3.5-liter V6 engine, connected to an efficient automatic transmission and powering the front wheels, the 2016 Honda Odyssey minivan achieves an impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 19 mpg in the city. That compares favorably to its rival from Chrysler, the Pacifica minivan, which only manages to return an EPA-estimated 18 city mpg rating. While one mpg difference may not seem like a lot over a short trip to the grocery store, the savings in fuel costs will certainly start to add up over time. The 2016 Odyssey's oversized, 21-gallon fuel capacity is also a whole two gallons greater than what you will get with the Pacifica, meaning that you can travel a whole lot further on one tank of gas in the Honda minivan than you can in the Chrysler. If you are looking for that perfect minivan for cruising around town, you have found it in the 2016 Honda Odyssey!

Standard Features

If you are looking for a new minivan that comes nicely equipped even in standard base trim, then look no further than the 2016 Honda Odyssey. Standard on every 2016 Odyssey is Honda's innovative Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Guidelines, which gives drivers a better view of what is behind the vehicle, thanks to its three different angles: normal, top-down, and wide. Chrysler, meanwhile, only offers its new Pacifica minivan in base trim with a basic one-angle rearview camera. In addition to its lack of a multi-angle rearview camera, the Pacifica also falls further behind the Honda by not providing some of the Odyssey's other standard features, like its Variable Assisted Steering and anti-theft stereo with CD player. If you were planning on doing some towing with your new minivan, then you will want to consider the Odyssey, too, since only the Honda is available with towing pre-wiring in base trim. You would have to upgrade if you would like those features added to a Chrysler Pacifica, which means a heftier price tag for your new minivan. Other popular standard features on the 2016 Honda Odyssey minivan include:

  • 6-Speed Automatic Transmission
  • Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®)
  • Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control

Innovative Features

Honda has packed a number of smart new features into the 2016 Honda Odyssey, all of which will make your life easier or your driving safer. The HondaVAC® system is a built-in vacuum that provides a long reach and removable waste bin, which makes it easy to clean the entire interior of your 2016 Odyssey SE or Touring Elite minivan. When you signal right with your turn signal, Honda LaneWatch™ displays live video on your infotainment screen to provide nearly four times more right-side visibility than using the passenger-side mirror alone. Its forward-thinking features like these that have given Honda the reputation as a leader in the automotive industry.

Safety Features

Honda has outfitted the 2016 Odyssey minivan with a host of safety features in order to keep you and your passengers while traveling around town or on the highway. Front active head restraints are standard on the 2016 Odyssey, as are second-row and third-row head restraints. These important safety features help prevent or mitigate whiplash of the head and neck during rear collisions, yet, they are not provided as standard equipment on the new Chrysler Pacifica.
